My new Sous-Chef

On father's day I realized we were out of tortillas, so I decided a fun activity would be to make them as a family.  Or perhaps I just didn't want to do them by myself the next day.  Either way, we ended up getting lots made in a short amount of time.  And yes, it was fun.

But here's what I didn't expect.  I didn't expect Emma to be the rockstar tortilla maker that she is.  Last time I made them it took me pretty much the entire batch to start getting consistent with my tortilla shapes.  And I was pretty proud of myself for mastering the technique.  And I was pretty sure that no one else would come close to my talent, and therefore I would be the designated "roller".

Since it was father's day and all, I let Brian have a go at rolling out one tortilla.  He actually did a pretty good job.  And then out of pity he let Emma give it a try.  And I'm telling you, she is a pro.

Brian and Emma quickly developed a system where he would prep the balls of dough, then hand them to Emma to roll out and shape.  Then one of them would hand me the tortilla to cook.  Then I had to step away for a minute, so I showed Brian how to cook the tortillas.  And before I knew it, I trained myself right out of a job.

It was glorious.
