Dreaming of the country

Brian and I have a dream to live on a small farm some day.  Actually, we pray that "some day" will be "soon".  Over the weekend we found a house in a rural setting, yet close to town, on 2.5 acres.  It's perfect.  The house isn't very pretty, but we have vision for what it could be, and for now it would work.  We're not sure if this is "the" house for us, but we're praying about it.  In the mean time, it's fun to dream.

Here are some images I found for farm inspiration.

I love a beautiful fence.

I can see myself sitting on the porch drinking lemonade, watching my kids play in the yard.

We will have a big garden with lots of vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.

We would like to raise a cow for the beef.

And chickens for the eggs.

What do you think?  Are we crazy?  Could a couple of suburb-kids like us handle a farm?

Images found here, here, here, here, and here.

I think it's an awesome dream to have. And you CAN DO IT. But Shana, don't forget, there are some of your LEAST favorite things that are commonly found around farms. I'll just start out with spiders and rusty nails....but I don't think I should print the "sn" word here and totally freak you out.

LOVE your spirit though.

You could totally do it. Except, expect weeds too... ;)

Ben and I totally have this dream too. (except NO WAY will I raise a cow for beef. I like mine from the butcher, thank you very much!)
We dream of converting the barn to a kids area...a place where the girls and their friends can come and chill. Don't worry...Den Farlow wants to have it all monitored so nothing naughty goes down.
Anyway, I could go on for hours about my dream farm house.
Please do it. And blog about it daily. You could be the new Pioneer Woman!!!

Laura, you could buy a farm next to ours. We'll send our kids over for play time in your barn, and you can send your girls over to learn about where beef comes from. :)
