I've discovered that I'm really caught up in the "new year, new resolutions" thing. Not so much resolutions, really, as simple motivation to get organized, get systems in place, etc. As you all know, laundry is one of the things that consumes me, and I'm happy to say that it's getting better, and I almost have a complete system in place. More on that later.
Somewhat related to that was to figure out a good way to keep track of the kid's bath towels, not get them mixed up, and store them nicely so they could be re-used between washes. I came up with a fantastic idea in the kid's bathroom and can't wait to show off the pictures. But not now.
During Christmas we moved the living room couch into the family room, and I decided that I liked the extra seating so much we are going to keep it there. Which means the living room (which was also the office) is now officially becoming the play room (slash office). So I'm organizing files and getting the "office" part to look a little nicer, plus adding fun touches for the "play" side of the room. It will be done soon, and I can't wait to see the final product.
I've also been working on a new chore system for the family. The kids have been begging for new chore charts for months, as I bagged the old ones quite a while ago. So I finally sat down and did some brainstorming and came up with a "family grid" which shows every job I could think of, every family member (over the age of two) and every day of the week. It's pretty simple. Find the day, find your name, and see what job you need to do. Hopefully it will work, but I'm already optimistic that it will at least help keep things organized and keep everyone accountable.
Okay. Lastly, we also painted / decorated the powder room. It was boring and white for the past ever, and badly in need of new paint. So I got some green and white towels. Then some green accessories. Then some green paint. Wow. It's a lot of green. But I think I like it. But the part that I LOVE is the custom vinyl decal we put on the wall. I got it from this shop off etsy, and I just think it's great.
