Drinking it all in

Tonight I was talking to Brian and reflecting on this past year with Noah in our lives. I told Brian that there honestly hasn't been a time where I've gone in to get Noah out of his bed and my heart hasn't skipped a beat. I have thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed having Noah as my baby these past 11 months.

So I got to thinking about my other kids, and how they are growing so fast, and how I really need to slow down and take time to enjoy the simple moments with them.

Though today wasn't perfect by any means, I still had a chance to enjoy special time with each of my kids, and it was so precious.

Noah played a game with me while nursing this afternoon, where he took his hand and pushed my head from side to side. He thought it was great fun (as did I) and it kept us both smiling. He also played peek-a-boo with me, using a burp rag to hide his face.

Isaiah was still groggy even after sleeping late this morning, so I picked him up and brought him to my bed to snuggle. He instantly fell asleep in my arms, so I just laid next to him and listened to him breathe. After I snuck out of bed I noticed his ear left a perfect indent on my arm.

Emma and I got ready together in my bathroom today. She said "Mom, we're having girl time!" and asked to wear my makeup (I said no). I admired her big, blue eyes and long lashes, and she told me I looked beautiful. To top it off, I let her borrow my pearl pendant - the one I got on my honeymoon.

Biniam and I went to the fabric store to get supplies for some home made gift projects. I laughed as he would look at the fabric and say things like "oh, that would be cute" or "Mom, you're picking out too many flower fabrics". I also admired his heart for his brothers and sister and his generosity towards them.

So, all that to say, I love my kids and I'm trying my best to enjoy the small things.
