Emma reads!

ANNOUNCEMENT....ANNOUNCEMENT!!! EMMA CAN READ!!!

Just yesterday in the car, I started testing Emma on her ability to spell out words. I gave her words like "lap", "map", "tap", and with a little help she could sound out the letters and tell me how to spell it.

Then tonight, for fun, Brian and I started writing out words on the chalk board and lo-and-behold, Emma could read them! She read "duck", "fun", "sun", "fat cat", and a handful of others. She has fantastic retention as she can sound out each letter once, then when she's done still remember what each sound was and put it all together to make the word.

Way to go, Emma! We're so proud of you!
