I'm having a baby!
That's right, at 5:00 AM this Thursday I am going to the hospital to meet my son! After getting turned away at the Dr's office this morning so my Dr could deliver a baby, I got to have lunch with my husband, and then I got the wonderful news that this pregnancy is almost over!
The baby looks good, although one of the kidney measurements (I think it's the fluid measurement, actually) was at 1.1 cm, where the Dr. didn't want it to be more than 1.0. So I think that was enough to tip the scales for delivery this week versus next week. Amniotic fluid still looks good, so there is no indication that the kidneys aren't doing their job.
The most surprising news for me was that I was dilated to 1 1/2 cm. I was just sure I would still be at a 0, so that was a pleasant surprise. I also got my membranes stripped, so who knows - maybe this baby will come sooner than Thursday?
Lastly, I gained almost two pounds since last week. So I'll go ahead and say it....that puts me at about 34 pounds for the pregnancy. I really wanted to keep it under 30 this time (I gained 39 with Emma) but I guess that's not too bad. And I'm telling you, there's got to be close to 10 pounds in just my ankles. No kidding.
So I'm off to get ready for a baby! I'm sure there's some door somewhere I forgot to sterilize...
Oh...stop by this blog on Thursday - supposedly there is wireless internet at the hospital, so I will be attempting to "live blog" through the labor and delivery.

Hi, Shana! I don't think I've ever left a comment for you, but I've been checking into your blog ever since I heard about your through someone on the CHSFS ET forum...it was when you were in ET meeting Biniam. Anyway, I've been really inspired reading about you guys (We are also interested in older child adoption...mostly because of stories like yours!), and we are also pregnant. In fact, I'm delivering on Jan. 29, Lord willing! We have a 5-year-old bio son and a 2-year-old son adopted from ET, so I feel like I can relate to you a bit...minus the 12-year-old. I'll be watching your blog on the 10th and praying for you as you go through labor and delivery. May it be a blessed day!
YAY!!! You're so lucky! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
hurrah!! That is so exciting... good luck.
Wow!!! I'm so excited!!!
I'll be thinking of you and hoping things go smoothly -- lots of virtual hugs coming your way!!
I'll be praying!!!!
Hugs
Mary
I can't wait to hear the exciting news of the arrival of your little boy! I don't like to cry at work but I get teary-eyed just thinking about a precious little miracle joining us in the world.
Your blog will be pretty much always up at work for me these next two days.
Congratulations!! How exciting! It'll be a great birthdate, too - -01/10. [:-)
Will be praying for you and your family on Thursday. Looking forward to pictures when he arrives.
Rachel
