False labor

I went into labor tonight at Brian's company Christmas party. It was a party for families with tons of activities for the kids. I was standing there watching Biniam wait in line for a huge inflatable slide when suddenly I started cramping and contracting and having terrible back pain. The symptoms lasted for about two minutes and then stopped for a minute or two and then started again. This went on for a good 20 minutes, putting me nearly in tears as I waddled behind the stroller pushing Isaiah across the arena, looking for Brian. I finally found him at the inflatable climbing mountain just as Emma was getting strapped into her climbing gear. So I stood there, laboring, taking pictures of Emma during breaks from pain.

We explained the situation to the kids, apologized, and left the party. After a few more contractions outside as I was waiting for Brian to bring the car around, the contractions stopped just as suddenly as they had started. I drove myself home (we had two cars there) and since then have been back to my usual braxton hicks.

I kind of feel like this was a huge warning to get ready for the baby, so suddenly I'm nesting like crazy. We need bedding for the bassinet, clean clothes for the baby, a car seat, get our hospital bags ready, Isaiah's closet remodel finished, batteries for the cameras...

This happened to me at 25 weeks and it was so scary! I had to go to the hospital and hang out for several hours while they got the contractions to stop.
Scary as it was, it was a good reminder to get everything in order...which I have yet to do!
Lay down and take it easy!

So exciting!!! Sounds like a really fun Christmas party too! I've never worked for a company that threw such a kid-friendly Christmas party ... lucky Brian! And lucky kids!

Your kids are so fortunate! You have a wonderful, beautiful, and quickly-growing family! : )

All my love and good luck with the next (false) labor! ~jenny
