When it comes to having a dad, my kids seriously hit the jackpot. Brian adores his kids, and it shows in the way he lights up around them. He loves to get down on the floor and play with them, and he wants to give them the world. He shows great enthusiasm with Emma's daily little creations, and is a great partner in discipline and teaching strong virtues.
This past weekend we were supposed to go camping with friends, but we backed out due to Brian having a cold and not feeling up to the trip. But not to let his daughter down, Brian set up our tent in the backyard and had an old-fashioned camp out with Emma. We roasted marshmallows on the patio, then I tucked Brian and Emma in their sleeping bags with a book and a flashlight. I think the experience was just as special for me to watch, as it was for them. Unfortunately things ended a little early when the wind picked up and things got too noisy, so my little campers came back inside around 2:30 AM.
But Brian really outdid himself last night when he donned an apron and decided to tackle making an apple pie - something I have been craving for a week. Brian had never made a pie before, but he carefully followed my mom's recipe and produced a gorgeous, yummy pie. I am seriously the luckiest woman alive.
Brian, you're the best.

Wow, I think that is the most shining example of verbal affirmation I have ever read!! Makes me think I should write my hubby a note and tuck it in his lunch tomorrow, telling him all the things I appreciate about him. Thanks for the great example.
Rachel
And Brian's pretty lucky too. He's married to my daughter. I'm sooo proud of both of you!
Love,
Dad
