Last night we returned from spending 5 days in the beautiful Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. With the jagged mountain ranges, the crystal clear Redfish Lake, and the quaint nearby town of Stanley, this has to be one of my favorite places.
We camped in a tent right on the Salmon River, just down the road from the lake. We spent most of our time relaxing at the beach or splashing in the river. We even bathed in the river currents since our campground offered no showers. At night we roasted marshmallows and introduced Texas Hold 'em to my Mom, who schooled us all.
On our way home we decided to make a full loop and drive through Sun Valley. We spent a little while walking around Ketchum, then went into Sun Valley for lunch at the lodge. We had good food and Emma enjoyed watching the ice skaters in the background.
The trip would have been near-perfect, had it not been for one mishap on our way there. At some point along the way, the bike rack broke which was carrying my brand-new (4 days old) bike, and Emma's new bike trailer. A camper discovered our bikes dragging behind the car and chased us down. My bike was ground down to metal shavings in places, and Emma's trailer was completely gone. Thankfully a park ranger recovered the trailer and some of my bike's missing hardware. The bike and trailer are seriously damaged, and we are now praying that Visa will accept our damage claim.
