For those of you who know me, this may come as a surprise. Not that I impulsively spent over $200, non-refundable at a store going out of business. But that I made a decision - a very important one - without over analyzing and agonizing like I usually do. What is this ultra-important decision, you ask?
Bedding! I bought nursery bedding for our new baby!
Not a big deal, right? For me, WRONG. My mom is one of the few people who would understand what an accomplishment this was for me. You see, when I was pregnant and deciding on a nursery theme, I shopped, researched, sketched, daydreamed, and even carried a folder around with fabric swatches, trying to find the perfect solution - at an affordable price. The final solution was to ask (beg) my mom and her friend to make all the bedding from scratch. The result was beautiful, custom nursery linens with a designer look for less than half what I would have paid. (Even still, I am embarrassed to admit I still paid more than most people would for a complete store-bought bedding set.)
So, given that history, I think I deserve to congratulate myself on a purchase well-done today.
The theme of the nursery is going to be "subtle safari" with neutral fabrics and colors. I am not big on any sort of overwhelming "themes", so that's why I say subtle. Now that I have my bedding I can start shopping for paint colors, window accents, accessories, etc. I think the room will be pretty neutral gender-wise, so I am not concerned that we don't know yet if we are getting a boy or a girl.
Here is what the bedding looks like. Yes, within minutes of getting it home I had it assembled in the crib. :)
Isn't it cute!
