The short answer...

...to my question of wondering where we are on the "list", is #12.

According to our contact at our agency there are about 42 waiting families on the list right now. We are in the bottom third. Not all the families are waiting for the same "type" of child, so it is hard to tell exactly where any certain family is. There are some families waiting for an infant like us, but that are also open to an older child. Then of course there are families that only want an older child. So, it appears that there are about 11 families ahead of us that are waiting for the same child.

There are some things that could potentially move us up the list faster; for example we would be willing to accept twins or siblings. It is also possible that we are willing to accept certain ailments or handicaps that other families are not.

Basically, there is no way of knowing how long we are going to wait until we find out who our child(ren) is. Only the Lord knows!
